Teachers of Bayou and Bloom Nature School 

Idunn is the founder of Bayou & Bloom and the heart behind its vision. Inspired by her childhood in Norway, where outdoor exploration and nature-based learning were a daily way of life, she created Bayou & Bloom to bring that same sense of wonder, freedom, and connection to children here.

With a background in child development and education, Idunn is passionate about creating environments where children feel safe, seen, and supported as they grow. Her approach blends play-based learning, social-emotional development, and meaningful time outdoors, allowing children to learn in a way that feels natural and joyful.

While she now serves as Director, her focus remains the same: building a strong, nurturing community for both children and families.

Tori recently completed her first year at Bayou & Bloom as a one-year-old teacher and quickly became a cherished part of our community. She brings a warm, loving presence into the classroom and has a natural ability to connect with even our youngest learners, helping them feel safe, comforted, and cared for each day.

As a mom of three, Tori understands the importance of creating a nurturing and supportive environment where children can grow at their own pace. She has a creative spirit and loves incorporating crafts and hands-on activities, making each day both engaging and meaningful.

Outside of the classroom, Tori enjoys spending time with her family and expressing her creativity through her work as a Scentsy consultant.

Darlene brings over 20 years of teaching experience and a deep love for working with children to Bayou & Bloom. She spent 23 years teaching in St. Charles Parish, working with a variety of age groups,  including 2nd and 3rd grade, physical education, and middle school.

After retiring from public education, Darlene followed her passion for early childhood and began working with younger learners, where her nurturing and patient approach truly shines. She creates a classroom environment where children feel safe, supported, and excited to learn.

Darlene also has a long-standing love for teaching beyond the classroom. She has taught swim lessons for over 27 summers and is a certified Red Cross instructor. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her family, getting creative with crafts, and being near the water.

Liza brings over six years of experience in early childhood education and a genuine passion for working with young children to Bayou & Bloom. She is dedicated to creating a nurturing and engaging environment where children feel supported as they learn, grow, and explore.

As a mom of two, Liza understands the importance of building strong, trusting relationships with both children and families. Her caring nature and love for education shine through in everything she does, helping create a positive and meaningful classroom experience each day.

Outside of school, Liza enjoys spending time with her husband and children, embracing the everyday moments of family life.
